Chapter Five

Glenda’s Law

Monday morning found Glenda in her large bedroom with velvet curtains and a roaring fire, she felt excited and slightly nervous about having such an important job. ‘But someone’s got to do it’, she reminded herself ‘And they say I am the one so here goes.’

She went to the large office Tony had been using when they first met. She settled down on the chair, but it just did not feel comfortable. She picked up the blue phone and a voice at the other end said. ‘Yes sir, err I mean madam how can I help you?’

‘Well,’ said Glenda, rather surprised, ‘My chair is so uncomfortable could you send me up some good quality straw for me to sit on please?’

‘Yes Ma’am.’ said the voice. And sure enough with in a few minutes there was some high quality straw on the cushion of Tony’s chair. ‘Ahh, that’s better’, she thought ‘Now I can get down to some serious work!’ Soon she had devised laws outlawing the slaughter of all chickens, the closing down of all Fried Chicken restuarants. The laws were passed.
