Mrs Warner

The day finally came when the talent scout from Chickens R Us arrived. He was a tall man, very thin and very pale. He had a wart on his top lip and lots of hair growing out of his nose. ’He looks like he’s in need of a good meal’ shuddered one of the chickens. ‘Gosh, he does look scary. What do you think Glenda?’ said Leonard.

Glenda eyed the scruffy man and decided to get a closer look; she might even hear what was being said between the farmer and the talent scout.

She flew across the farmyard, squawking a quick hello to Pauline the pig and her children, all twelve of them and still to be named. She got to the window of the farmhouse and could see Mrs Warner serving tea and biscuits to the strange man. Glenda sneaked up to the window, She couldn’t make out what they were saying, she could only hear mumbling. She looked around her and could see the kitchen door was open slightly, she walk over to the door and put her head around the corner.
