‘HOT FAT!’ came a loud voice behind the door. It was Leonard the cockerel. ‘I’ve heard of this so-called Chickens R Us why don’t they have a Cockerel’s R Us?’

‘You’re just jealous,’ clucked Gloria. ‘Nope Ma’am I am not, because if you remember cockerel’s are never eaten.’

‘Eaten!? What do you mean by eaten?’ said Glenda in an annoyed voice. ‘You mean you don’t know?’ said Leonard ‘No,’ said Glenda, ‘Tell me.’

Leonard told the chickens what he had heard whilst listening at the kitchen window of the farmhouse. ‘Mr and Mrs Warner were discussing how much money they would get if they sold you lot to the man who puts you in hot fat.’

'Really?' said Glenda, ‘You mean to say they take us from here and put us in boiling fat, what ever that is and we get to be famous?’

'Yes, yes, yes!’ said Gloria, ‘Just think of the fame and fortune! I could afford to have a coop with central heating, a TV and my own personal deep fat fryer for when ever I wanted to have a top up beauty treatment!’
